Friday Night Folk at All Souls joyfully supports social and environmental justice by bringing live traditional, contemporary and multicultural folk music to the larger community in a welcoming and accessible performance space.
Annual benefit concerts support local grassroots environmental and social justice efforts. Past beneficiaries include: the Immigrant Advocacy and Support Center “IASC”, Save the River/Save the Hills, FRESH New London, Save the Sound, the Haitian Hub, SE CT Community Land Trust, StartFresh refugee resettlement, Adult Education ESL, and other worthy causes!
History and heritage: Friday Night Folk concerts began in 1989 in All Souls Unitarian Universalist Congregation’s previous building in New London–bringing quality folk music and performers to southeastern Connecticut. Through the years, folk music fans from all over New England have enjoyed the music of artists such as Richard Shindell, Guy Davis, Red Molly, Guy Davis, John Gorka, Tom Chapin, Zoe Lewis, Jerron Paxton, Kristen Graves, Sarah Lee Guthrie, Geoff Kaufman, David Mallett, Patty Larkin, Utah Philips, Cheryl Wheeler, Gordon Bok, Bill Staines, Bill Morrissey, Vance Gilbert, Aztec Two-Step, Voco, Ida Red, Work o’ the Weavers, The Burns Sisters, and emma’s revolution.
