Geoff Kaufman performs January 13, 2023!

Ancient ballads, work songs, songs of love, poignant songs of people in struggle…

Geoff Kaufman sings about issues of social justice, the climate crisis and our need to find common ground. He also chooses songs for their pure grace and beauty.  Mostly, Geoff just loves to sing – a cappella or accompanied by guitar, concertina or bones.

Geoff leads us to find truth, humor, and beauty in folk music. He has performed on the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, at coffeehouses throughout the Northeast, and at festivals in Europe. Geoff often promotes audience participation, loving the “live” in live performance.

7:30 on January 13 — doors open 7 p.m.

In Person! Tickets: $17 in advance, $20 at the door (students and active Military with ID $10). Reserve your seat on EventBrite or by calling All Souls at 860-443-0316 by January 12.

Ash & Eric on April 22! at 7:30 — in person! (only) Our famous refreshments are back!

Ash & Eric (Ash and Eric L’Esperance–formerly ‘The Promise is Hope’) have never shied away from life’s hard edges. Hailing from the “gritty heart” of the Industrial Revolution — Worcester, MA — they find beauty in the challenge of being artists in a stubbornly-independent city. Their music reflects the hope and pain we all experience, sung in voices as vulnerable and honest as their lyrics.

Their songs feel like a warm welcome, a shoulder to lean on and a hand to hold at the end of a long day. In addition to top tier writing, their warm harmonies, swirling acoustic guitars, and easy stage presence have earned them a dedicated following in the North East folk scene.

Tickets are $17 in advance ($10 for students and active Military with ID) and $20 at the door. Reserve tickets on EventBrite or call All Souls at 860-443-0316 by April 21 to be put on our “reservations” list. Ash & Eric will perform live (no livestream) at 7:30 on Friday April 22 in Unity Hall at All Souls, 19 Jay St, New London CT.

Covid precautions have been lifted — welcome back! Refreshments will be available at last (that’s our plan!). Homebaked sweeties, crudite, coffee and tea!

In 2005 Flynn began facilitating an inmate support group at Delaware’s maximum security penitentiary, then took on other prisons. In 2013 he began running groups for those who had been released. These groups provided community and support for ex-offenders and have helped fight recidivism. In 2017, Flynn founded New Beginnings – Next Step, a non-profit dedicated to helping incarcerated and returning citizens successfully transition to freedom, and that work has become the largest part of John’s multi-activity work life.

Deana McCloud of the Woody Guthrie Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, writes, “John Flynn is the real deal. His work follows in the footsteps of Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Kris Kristofferson, and other social justice troubadours as he speaks the truth and gives a voice to society’s disenfranchised. His work fills your heart and opens your eyes.”

Geoff Kaufman performs January 14 at 7:30!

Geoff Kaufman leads us to find truth, humor, and beauty in folk music from sailor songs to social justice and environmental songs. Geoff has touched audiences near and far–he has performed on board the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, at coffeehouses throughout the Northeast, and at wonderful pre-Covid festivals in Europe.

Songs of the sea, songs of the earth, songs of the heart and the spirit—all of these are in Geoff Kaufman’s ditty bag. At the core of Geoff’s performance is his rich tenor voice and an exuberant love of singing. Geoff likes to stress the “live” in live performance, promoting participation by voice, heart or mind.

“…we are stunned by the beauty of your music.” – a fan in Corpus Christi, TX
